Poem for a Stranger

One look and I fell into his eyes like Alice down the well
Swooning through spicy green and mallow hazels
Intrigued and comforted with each lingering second.

I'm not certain I remember his name, nor what I asked, nor what he said
But I remember
His lips as they sung a reply
And how his eyes sparkled at me
Like a folk singer playing a guitar with just the right amount of twang.
Perhaps I am the sound he was looking for.
That I dream.

And so I did what I could to see him again
Before the day ended, as if
He were puffed of make believe stuff
Candy clouds that formed a fellow
Of the upmost perfection and poise.
If I didn't see him I was afraid that tomorrow
His human form would've passed and
He would have breezed into some other magic being.

He was a prince with a midnight deadline
And I just needed one more breath
Stolen from me when he whispered my name
Melting me with one cool smile.
